With the ending of writer Tim Seeley's Bloodshot series, Valiant Entertainment is looking forward to releasing their new Shadowman series next month. So I've rescheduled further discussion of Bloodshot #12 until after next week's Savage #2, as we'll then have four weeks with no new Valiant comics until Savage #3 comes out April 14.
Here's a few preview pages of the new Shadowman #1 by writer Cullen Bunn, artist Jon Davis-Hunt, colorist Jordie Bellaire, and letterer Clayton Cowles. They can give you a foretaste of the coming series.
Visually, this story reminds me of Valiant Entertainment's recent Punk Mambo series. That was a hit with fans when it arrived in 2019. My wife and I also enjoyed it when it came out. So if you haven't read Shadowman before, that might be a good way to prepare for this upcoming Shadowman series.
Punk Mambo Trade Paperback |
This series involved Punk Mambo investigating a series of abductions, and delved into the world of Voodoo. Crucially, she lost contact with her loa, the spirit creature who had been the major source of her power. The loa hail from the Deadside, a realm that Punk Mambo and Shadowman know all too well. Remember, the Deadside is where my Valiant journey began, way back in Ninjak #10.
The Punk Mambo trade paperback contains all five issues (also by writer Cullen Bunn), as well as a special issue by writer Peter Milligan. So if you haven't read it yet, you might want to pick it up when you head down to your local comic shop to order Shadowman #1, which comes out April 28th.
