Armorclads is a step in a new direction for Valiant. It may not be set "A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away," but it is set in another solar system. It's a great new Science Fiction series, and worth checking out.
Giant bugs inhabit the planet Xeru, reminiscent of those who terrorized Earth in "Starship Troopers."
Whenever someone leaves their protective dome, they often do so wearing a mechanized suit of some kind, as in "Avatar."
Soldiers guard shipments of the precious resource known as "The Pure." The name reminds me of a certain British rock band.
Genetically engineered miners and support staff, known as Ironclads, extract the Pure for their Alphan overlords.
Their lives are difficult and hazardous, given the bug threat.
If the Ironclads dare to step out of line, or demand more freedom than they've been granted, they are quickly reminded of their place in the scope of things.
A renegade force known as the Legionnaires also attack the convoys.
Given the forces arrayed against them, is an Ironclad revolution possible?
A few Ironclads are willing to try.
The new governor of Xeru is dismissive of their efforts.
But his attention is focused elsewhere. He seems most interested in bringing about the fulfillment of prophesy, or discovering the truth about an ancient myth.
This gives many Ironclads, even more passive support staff, the courage to join their comrades in their fight for a better life.
Can the Ironclads win their bid for freedom? Will the governor discover something that can lessen the need for "The Pure", and bring peace to the solar system?
Read on, and see.
