Dave Johnson's Bloodshot #1 Cover B reminds us of what Bloodshot is: a laboratory experiment, created to be the ultimate human soldier. His body was once no more than a cadaver. Now it displays all the hallmarks of a soldier who has kept himself in top physical shape. 

A darkness runs through Bloodshot, as it runs through all the series in which he stars. Is he more than just a body and mind controlled by the tiny machines called nanites that swim through his circulatory system? Is he more than just a tool, a weapon, a being to be x-rayed, analyzed, and programmed?

Someone who can be programmed can turn on you at any moment. One minute--while he's in control--he can be your friend and protector. The next...

Can anyone ever trust Bloodshot? Is there even a real Ray Garrison, a personality the man named Bloodshot has tried and fought and worked so hard to cobble together? So many times, Bloodshot (or Ray) thought he had become someone, only to see everything--a family, his friends, his fellow team members--taken away from him.

Who is Bloodshot? A man on a slab, given life only by tiny machines? A soldier incapable of having a normal life? Or...
